IVR and TTS systems read exactly what you give them. A "&" becomes a literal ampersand sound. A "$50" might get read as "dollar-sign 50". PasteLint's IVR / TTS Mode converts symbols (&, @, #, $, %) to their spoken equivalents, strips markdown formatting, and removes hidden characters — all pre-selected and ready to go.

Why IVR and TTS Text Needs Special Preparation
Interactive voice response systems and text-to-speech engines are far more literal than human readers. An ampersand (&) spoken aloud might become "ampersand" or be skipped entirely depending on the platform. A dollar sign ($) before a number might confuse the engine into saying "dollar-sign" instead of "dollars". Asterisks (*), underscores (_), and hashtags (#) can all produce unexpected audio output.
PasteLint's IVR / TTS Mode replaces common problematic symbols with their plain-English equivalents, strips markdown formatting characters, and removes hidden characters — giving you clean text that reads exactly as intended when spoken.
